We have internet

We ripped out the carpet in Eric's future office. We were pleased to find a wood floor underneath.

We've been working on taking off most of the old moldings. We still have some to go. Thanks Nate for all your help.

The granddaughters helped me take down wall paper. We made a dent for sure.

Lissa is taking out staples on the floor where the carpet was.

We created a pile in the garage of stuff that needs to go to the dump.

Maggie is pretty good at taking down towel bars, and nails off the wall.

Olivia helped me do some set up in the kitchen.

Charlotte is getting the high spots of the wall paper that no one else can reach.

Abbie had fun hauling wood to the garage.

Lissa made us lunch again.

Full day I'm tired - Eric's picking up Pizza at Costco.

I think we will go home after Pizza and rest.

Great progress today.

We will go at it again tomorrow after church.

Day three: Today after church the Trivett's and the Forbes came over and help us move the ball down the road a little bit more. We love you Trivett's -

Funny story - we've have known the Trivett's for 46 years they came to our wedding thinking they were coming to a mid week service. Surprise it was our wedding.

They are awesome.

Laurie and I cleaned the inside and out of the kitchen cabinets, and started to line them.

Nate continue to take down old moldings - and finished the job.

Tim and Eric ripped out the rest of the old carpet.

Nate, TIm and Eric tore out the builtin shelving.

Eric and Nate took out two bathroom lights, and put the nicer looking one in the 3rd bathroom and threw out the ugly one.

Olivia took out a shower door.

Lissa and the girls went around taking out nails, around door moldings walls etc...

Char and Mag's worked on taking out wall paper and other random jobs.

Amazing progress today.

Welcome Home

When we got the keys to our new place January 31, 20205 - I immediately went straight to our new purchase. To my surprise the granddaughters had a welcome sign "Welcome Home", and balloons tied to the front door.

This warmed my heart that we made the right decision.

I knew the work we had before us was a huge task and take a lot of hard work to make it all happen.

Day one: After Olivia finished her school work today, she came over and helped rip up the old carpet in the hallway. Then started helping me take down the row of funky mirrors.

Then at lunch time I walked to Lissa's and she made me lunch.

A good first day at the house.

Met with the molding guy - he did some measuring so he can order all new trim.

We will really kick it tomorrow.

Park Terrace Adventures

It's been decades since I've blogged.

I went ahead and deleted my old Bloggs and decided to start anew.

This year is a new adventure for us. We decided to sell our Lewisburg home and move to Park Terrace to be closer to our youngest daughter's family.

We bought a fixer upper on January 31st and immediately started to remodeling it. The house was built in 1953 and had been added onto many times. The septic tank  and drain field had failed. So we had a new septic tank and drain field put in. The roof needed patching, the ductwork  had to be replaced. There was wood rot  in various parts of the home that had to be dwelled with. Floors had to be replaced, two bathrooms were gutted and re done. There was asbestos that had to be removed. All the moldings and doors were replaced because of lead paint. Brick was taken off three walls and drywall patching. We replaced two windows and secured a window that wasn't secure. We had a new kitchen island built and new pull out drawers put in the kitchen cabinets. All the drywall was patched and retextured. We had the driveway ripped up and repaired because they were lifted up in various places and was a hazard. We cut down two trees so they wouldn't cause anymore damage to the driveway. We had the front and side yard irrigation lines repaired. Put in new wood floors were there wasn't wood floors and old wood floors repaired and refinished. The fireplace chimney was repaired and cleaned. We put in 8 raised beds and brought in a large garden shed and moved the smaller garden shed to another part of the backyard. We had a greenhouse delivered and put in place. We replaced all the plumbing and wiring and added LED wafer lights  where there was no lights in the ceilings and replaced all the ceiling lights with LED wafer lights except in the dining room. We replaced with a new chandelier. In the Primary bedroom we hung two round globe light fixtures and took out the old ceiling fan. We had two split systems  in the house one in the family room and one in the Primary bedroom. We had all the interior of the house painted, walls, ceilings, moldings doors and cabinets. A new mantel was built for the living room fireplace. New cabinets built in were built in the hallway. We replace the outside door in the guest room with a new outside door. All new hinges, and door knobs put in. New drapes put in Primary bedroom, dining room, and family room. New area rug put in the guest bedroom. Had the dryer vent directed to the ceiling and new laundry sink in the garage.

As you can see there was a lot that needed to be done before we could move in completely.

While the remodeling was going on we decluttered, and cleaned up Lewisburg to prepare for the sale. We moved our stuff to the warehouse at work and moved to Park Terrace May 24th. We turned the family room into a studio apartment while the rest of the house was being worked on. August 16th we were finally able to move our furniture in.

We started to unpack and go through things deciding what will work and what wouldn't work in our new space.

The stuff that wasn't going to work we donated to the Forbes to do a garage sale. They are earning money for a mission trip next year.

We finally are able to take a vacation in Sisters, Oregon while the kitchen is being painted. When we get home I have the kitchen to put back together and lots of boxes yet to go through.
